THE OVERWATCH Summer Games 2017 looks to be all but confirmed, following the news of new skins being uncovered ahead of any official PS4 and Xbox One update.

BLIZZARDOne of the first proper in-game events launched by Blizzard for the shooter, the original was in celebration around the Olympics and was centered around Lucio.
And it appears more details have been uncovered of what the 2017 version will be like.
This could be the first event where we see old Overwatch skins being re-released by Blizzard, although there is also evidence to suggest new ones are also in the works.
The latest news comes from a string of recent datamining efforts, which have found that over 40 new items look set to be added in the near future.
There were even some hints that a special Junkrat cosmetic is being worked on, which would boast water balloons instead of bombs.
While no set release date has been found for this new content, it’s likely that Blizzard will launch it sometime in August.
In the past, events have been released closely with new hero launches, so it stands to reason that Doomfist’s release shouldn’t slow much down.
It should be noted that the return of the Summer Games has yet to be confirmed by Blizzard, although clues have been found suggesting its launch.
Blizzard recently added Doomfist in July, although dataminers have discovered that more skins are on the way.
According to the latest reports, Doomfist will be getting 4 Cosmetic Items during the Summer Games event.
“Based on previous event cosmetics, 4 seems to be a fair amount and usually means an event-specific skin is on the way for said hero,” A reddit post from an Overwatch dataminer explains.
“It is possible that, because he's a new release they'll focus more on the sprays, emotes, etc. Especially if he launches with 4 or 5 amazing legendaries.”
The Doomfist release rolled out on PS4, Xbox One and PC earlier this month, but has apparently been delayed for a long time.
According to lead writer Michael Chu, the Overwatch Doomfist release on PS4, Xbox One and PC could have happened a lot sooner.
While he wasn’t in working condition when the game released last year, the team already knew he would be part of it at some point in the future.
“When we were working on the announcement cinematic for Overwatch we did a little bit of development on Doomfist (concepting his fist and Arnold Tsang, our assistant art director, even did a quick concept of what the character might look like),” Chu reveals.
“It quickly became apparent that people were really interested in Doomfist and really wanted to see him as a hero in the game.
“We agreed! Arnold did another version of the concept (pretty much the one that we ultimately built) near the end of development when we were finalizing the roster of heroes for the game at release.
“Doomfist, unfortunately, did not make the cut, but by then we were committed to making him.”

Blizzard has confirmed the return of the Summer Games To Overwatch and it all kicks off starting next Tuesday, August 8th and will end on August 29th.
A new developer update has also been released with Jeff Kaplan, which you can watch below.
"The Summer Games return to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on August 8! Join game director Jeff Kaplan as he discusses what's changed, what's the same, and what you can expect from this year’s event." reads the video description.
Lúcioball, the rocket league-esk football game returns alongside a new Sydney map and a few balance changes to the overall game.
There will also be new Summer Games skins available for 2017, plus last year's skins available once again but at reduced prices.
New 2017 Summer Games Cosmetic Items will cost the following:
• Legendary Skins will cost 3,000 credits
• Epic Skins will cost 750 credits
• Rare tier will cost 225 credits
• Common tier will cost 75 credits
Previous Summer Games cosmetics will be available at a reduced cost:
• Legendary Skins will cost 1,000 credits
• Epic Skins will cost 250 credits
• Rare tier will cost 75 credits
• Common tier will cost 25 credits
Overwatch fans are still waiting on Blizzard to pull the trigger and announce what they're fairly certain is already coming after the discovery of several files by a dataminer.
But in one of the weirdest and most confusing exchanges, we've seen the official PlayOverwatch Twitter account responded to one fans, basically asking them to announce Summer Games 2017.
"Any announcements you might have today? Maybe about a game mode or something?" asked @dzunepwnsipod
Responding, @PlayOverwatch said:
"If we do, we won't announce the announcement before we announce it. Just stay tuned and if/when we do, we'll post it here."
As confusing as that might be, it's unlikely we're getting any announcement today, but a lot of fans on the Overwatch Reddit page believe we could get some sort of tease Thursday, with the event starting next week.
"This happened with the Winter Wonderland event if anyone remembers," explains Redditor SpikeVashSpiegel.
"People thought the event was going to happen but instead, we got a teaser and the event occurred the week after. Also, no leaked images of lootboxes that usually happens."
Bottom line, stay tuned in the coming days.

Overwatch Summer Games looks to be making a comeback in 2017 with a new Reddit post by dataminer Yernemm, uncovering “40+ new items” coming to the game which seems to confirm the return for Blizzard's sporty seasonal event.
The return of the Summer Games has been bandied about for the last few months, but it's only now that hard evidence has been found which seems to corroborate that Blizzard will indeed return.
Initially, this starts with Redditor Ekultron finding several achievements which indicated a return for Lucioball, and it's plain as day that these are new achievements and not old ones because no-one has earned them yet.
These achievements were added during the recent Doomfist update (patch 1.13), and while we don't know for certain what exactly the Summer Games will entail for 2017, we're confident that Lucioball will be involved because these achievements seem to highly strongly suggest a return.
For those who don't remember, Lucioball was a special 3v3 game mode, where players needed to melee a large football into a net.
So it's basically Overwatch given the Rocket League treatment.
However, this isn't the only evidence found which shows the Overwatch Summer Games 2017 is set to be confirmed any day now.
As mentioned, dataminer Yernemm found “40+ new items” and key to this is the line:
“The Summer Games return for more fun in the sun! Your favorites from last year are back alongside 40+ new items!”

Another string, which reads “Back to the Beach”, which pcgamesn suggests could hint towards some sort of seaside theme for this year cosmetics, but again, that's not confirmed by any means and until an official announcement is made it's anyone's guess what it actually refers to
As for when this event could be released, there's nothing concrete from the Blizzard or Overwatch team just yet, but there's a chance the Summer Games could start as early as tomorrow, as a string contained in the datamine reads: “August 2 - August 23.”
"It’s more likely, however, that this is simply the leftover dates from last year, as they match up exactly with the Olympics-themed Summer Games of 2016." claims PCGamesN.
As for new Skins, Daily Express has suggested that "this could be the first event where we see old Overwatch skins being re-released by Blizzard."
Although, again we can't see Blizzard passing on the chance for new skins and more excuses for players to purchase loot boxes.
As Express also suggests:
"In the past, events have been released closely with new hero launches, so it stands to reason that Doomfist’s release shouldn’t slow much down."
Blizzard added new character Doomfist to the game last week and since dataminers had discovered that more skins for the character were already on the way.
According to reports, Doomfist will be getting 4 Cosmetic Items during the Summer Games event.
